Junior Barons root on varsity team to 49-6 victory over Los Amigos
In the Varsity Barons season opener, 197 Junior Barons showed up in their Blue & Gold to cheer on their big brothers and sisters to a 49-6 victory.
Former FVJAAF players made a big impact including Adam Castellon who led the charge as Fountain Valley made several tackles in the Los Amigos backfield and scored two touchdowns, one on a third-quarter Los Amigos fumbled snap and again in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run.
Steven Santana contributed with an interception in the second half and recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchback just when it appeared that the Lobos were set to score their first touchdown.
Bryse Blake was 10 for 14 for 139 yards with two touchdowns and ran for a touchdown and finished with 48 yards rushing.
Nathan Feiler scored on a 12-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Fountain Valley's victory earned the Barons the first Kiwanis Kup. Fountain Valley and Los Amigos, the city of Fountain Valley's two high schools, have agreed to play a nonleague game once a year. The Kiwanis Club of Fountain Valley will award the Kiwanis Kup to the winner of each game of the series.
The Barons play at Buena Park Friday.

Football Quotes:
If my mother put on a helmet and shoulder pads and a uniform that wasn't the same as the one I was wearing, I'd run over her if she was in my way. And I love my mother. (By Bo Jackson)
Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein. (By Joe Theisman)
Jim Finks, when asked after a loss what he thought of the refs: I'm not allowed to comment on lousy officiating.
